Initial Consultation

An initial consultation session will help us decide if we are a good fit. During the initial consultation, I will gather information about the issues which have brought you to therapy. I will ask you questions about your childhood, family history, medical issues, past mental health treatment, relationships, and support systems. It will help me get a sense of who you are and your presenting problem and ensure I can competently treat you. I will also provide more detailed information on my clinical style and policies and how they will inform our work together. One of the essential parts of a consultation is that it gives you a chance to ask me some questions regarding treatment focus and how I work as a clinician. The initial consultation session will not be a typical therapy session.

If we decide we are a good fit, we will schedule our first therapy session. If we are not a good fit for any reason, we will use the rest of the session to discuss more suitable treatment options for you.

Individual Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

I practice psychodynamic therapy based on Freud’s psychoanalytic theory that our unconscious mind and past experiences influence thoughts and behaviors. Through collaborative conversation, clients deepen their awareness and understanding of the unconscious mind. During this process, the client will work with me in uncovering and understanding how the unconscious mind impacts his/her thoughts and behaviors. It frequently involves looking at the client’s early childhood experiences to discover how past experiences or repressed early memories might have affected his/her thinking, behavior, and relationships in adulthood. Unlike traditional psychoanalysis, the frequency of sessions occurs once or twice per week, takes place face-to-face, and it is a less intensive form of treatment. In addition to providing in-person therapy, I also offer teletherapy.

Clinical Consultation and Supervision

I provide individual supervision and consultation available to clinicians in private practice looking to improve and deepen their clinic work, looking for support, and those who require supervision hours for LCSW licensure.

Immigration Evaluations for Asylum Seekers

I have received training in the documentation of torture and trauma through Physicians for Human Rights. Immigration Evaluations include an in-depth assessment of how trauma has negatively impacted immigrants' mental health associated with immigration, including PTSD, Depression, and Anxiety. Please contact me to obtain more information about how an immigration psychosocial evaluation can be helpful in a successful immigration case.
